What’s Coachization?

What’s Coachization? Coaching + Organization. Hi, my name is Coach Lisa and my middle name might as well be Organization. I have a Professional Organizing background and was trained as a Personal/Business/Life Coach in 1997 as the industry was just beginning to expand.

Professional Organizing is mainly about organizing physical stuff.  Coaching is about organizing you and your life.

Often we’re overwhelmed with everything we need and want to get done. Sometimes getting from Point A to Point B seems daunting. Having systems and structures that guide and support us can make all the difference. You can hire a coach. Or be your own coach. After all, we’re always Self-Coaching. Coachization is about becoming really good at it!

I have a lifetime of personal experience and a purpose. My life purpose is to inspire my clients to live to their full potential. I help individuals live more congruently with their values and visions by making new choices about how they manage their space, their time, and their energy.

One of the tools I use with my clients is my Marathon Analogy:

I’ve run a few marathons over the course of my life thus I often use a Marathon Analogy in my work to describe how I can have a goal to run (well, mostly run) 26.2 miles (yes, all marathons are 26.2 miles). I usually have secondary goals in addition to finishing, such as: finishing feeling good or finishing within a certain timeframe. My big goal, my vision, my outcome is the above. But is that truly my goal or is there more to goal setting than that?

A 16 week training program is usually recommended for a marathon, and that’s if you’re in shape and have been running a base of around 20 miles a week. I personally know it can be done in less than this but I can also speak to the power of momentum in goals and running. I ran my PR (personal record) marathon after running pretty consistently (keyword!) for a few years. When training, the mini goals are to run a certain number of runs per week, of a certain distance, at a certain pace, etc. Runners also typically keep a logbook. And, pun intended, they take one step after another.

Whereas some people run daily for general health, or like to run alone, I prefer to run mostly with others. I tend to run more, run further, and run faster this way. Then a solitary run or two during the week seems like a break in comparison. And I like to have a race I’ve registered to train for. This gives me a structure to follow in achieving my goal. It’s nice to have things scheduled on your calendar to look forward to. Otherwise, life can begin to feel like one overwhelming race rather than a series of smaller races.

What’s your Vision for your Life this year? Have you set Goals?

What is your Strategy or Plan for getting there?

What structures will set you up for success?

How will you weather the tough runs - the character building days?
