What Exactly is Self-Coaching?
Dear Coachable Organized You,
Self-Coaching is about facilitating your own progress. It’s about guiding yourself. It says you have the answers and if you don’t know the answers then you can seek them out elsewhere.
You can self-coach anytime, anywhere. Once a week is recommended but it might be fun, and useful, to use this tool throughout the week - say, if you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or blah.
Self-coaching will help you focus, gain clarity, and figure out your next steps. It’s not always about taking action. After all, I like to say, Your rest day is your best day:) Sometimes doing nothing, or waiting, is what you decide to do rather than taking immediate action.
Notice the use of the word “decide”. Self-coaching is very much about deciding — making choices that are aligned with your values and who you are authentically. Yes, this means that Self-Coaching can require asking the tough questions. It can also be playful!
Mostly, Self-Coaching is meaningful. It bridges the gap between everything you know you need and want to be doing and actually doing it. It shows you how and supports you and celebrates with you.
Sample Self-Coaching Questions:
If I don’t have the answer, where can I go to get it?
What choices would I like to make based on this new information?
Am I being honest with myself?
Let’s just stop for a minute and celebrate me!
